Extremely Limited!
French transplant Christophe Baron is at the forefront of showing the
potential for Rhone varieties in the Walla Walla appellation. His rocky
“Cailloux Vineyard” is closest thing in America to to the riverbed vineyards
of Chateauneuf du Pape. Planted with a crowbar in the ancient, stony
riverbed within the Walla Walla Valley appellation in1996, comprising 10
acres, it’s biodynamically farmed. Always a wine of great density and
flavor. It’s chewy in texture, glowing with spicy aromas of plums and
currants. People are calling his wines the most exciting thing to hit
Washington since merlot!
