Robert Foley
Vineyards
“As the winemaker for Pride Mountain, the fabulous blue chip performer
situated on the hillsides of Spring Mountain, Bob Foley has consistently
turned out phenomenal wines. He also runs a small operation under his own
name, and is the genius behind several other labels, most notably Switchback
Ridge. For mountain-styled Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and even
striking Sangiovese and Viognier, Foley has an undeniable talent for
producing wines of great richness and intensity yet keeping them reasonably
light on their feet.”--- Robert Parker.

Foley Claret 2004
12/750
$86.45/Bottle
95 Points, Parker (December 2006 #168). "The
inky/purple-hued, seamless 2004 Claret boasts gorgeous aromas of creme de
cassis, blackberries, smoke, licorice, espresso roast, and spring flowers.
With sensational concentration, full body, a voluptuous mouthfeel, decent
acidity, and sweet tannin, it can be drunk now and over the next 10-15
years."

Foley Charbono 2005
12/750
$28.75/Bottle
"The talented Bob Foley turns out one of the two finest Charbonos in
California.” --- Robert Parker. Native of southern
France or northern Italy, Charbono arrived in California in the 1800s and
gained favor as a body-builder and overall intensifier when blended with the
early Napa Cabernets. Most "Charbonophiles" associate this variety with
Inglenook which is where he fell in love with it in the 1960s. Foley’s
Charbono is grown by Gary Heitz, former Inglenook grower, who provides
profoundly expressive fruit from which he crafts deep rich cuvees. Small
percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and new French oak complete the
assemblage of this inspiring red wine- inky, juicy and pure.
Must Buy two bottles of Charbono, for every (one) bottle of Claret
purchased.
